Title: high idle when connected ?

Next to the airbox attached to the drivers side suspension mount, wired to the injector unit I have a small  fitting that is disconnected at the moment (electrical connector with a rubber cover and metal clip to hold), when I connect this up the revs go up by about 500 rpm, which would take standing idle way to high (1400), obviously this should be connected but what is it for?. When I've taken the car to have it krypton tuned the guy there had no idea, and set it up with this as it was unplugged.  ???
