Hello to all firstly,
and er as the title suggests I'm having running troubles with my Mk1 cabrio golf, Ive been through the entire car since purchasing it 2 years ago not many stones have been left unturned but disappointingly it still won't behave as it should. i discovered that i had suffered from the holed filler neck problem and my fuel was watered down!! since then i have replaced the filler neck, tank etc and now it has an intermittent running problem, basically no go !!! and then all of a sudden it seems to wake up but only briefly, could this be a metering head issue ??? and if so can anyone shed some light please, its such a tease. electrically its sound and for a 1984 model its in incredibly good condition having never been welded anywhere of the usual places (rear axle mounts points etc) Ive owned hard top gti's and scirrocos all of which have been excellent fun but nothing matches having the top down on dry days and despite the extra weight (100kg more than the hard top?) when its running right it still manages to put a smile on my face, also the correct manual for the car seem to be elusive can any one help me out ????? cheers tinx

its an 1800 g.t.i. er thanks for response but we have managed to sort it, basically found after stripping the metering unit that the water contamination had caused corrosion which was blocking the injectors. we swapped them for ones from a scrap mk2 and the metering head and hey presto goes like a screaming banshee, smiles all round and lots of fun to be had now well as soon as its dry anyway.
ta very much  tinx
