Title: new weitec springs
Post by: rowlers on 15 February 2007, 16:06
Just fitted my new weitec springs, job went great but...

My valver is still too low!!!

I bought 40mm springs, but it looks like (from the measurements anyway) they have lowered my valver by a full 40mm, I assumed that they lowered a std carb model by 40mm which would mean about a 10mm drop to a valver - make sense???

Anyway looks like I'll have to put up with the tyres rubbing for now and have a rethink!
Bummer!

Were the springs you bought specifically for a 16v???
Most springs you see have two or more variants and are model specific, if you bought 40mm springs that were intended for a 16v they will indeed lower it a further 40mm.

Eibach list some that lower a 16v 20mm they're probably worth a try:

I've looked on weitecs website and they list one part number for all 19e Mk2 Golfs.
It doesn't look like they are specifically for a 16v?
Who knows I'll put up with it for now, starting to wish I'd just stayed standard!

no fun when you're terrified the tyres are to disintegrate though!
