I sat in the drivers seat, there was a clunk and now it feels wobbly and slightly off centre.
How easy is it to get them out and check them? Mk3 Gti 8v 'L' Interior.
Is there a part on them that is known to break?

Sound likes the runner guides have worn/moved.
dead easy to take out the seats. look under the front of the seat, there should be a small allen headed bolt. Remove this, then slide the seat as far back as it'll go and it'll pop out of the runners.
You will need to refit/replace the guides...ECP / GSF or EBAY,
then, as they say in all the good books, refitting is a reversal of removal.
hope this helps.

I would say classic case of broken seat clip's...... A common fault on mk1's to mk3's. the clunk would be the clip breaking and now she wobble's as there is nothing holding the seat into the rail
