Title: Golf has decided it doesn't like oil.
Post by: monzablue16v on 13 February 2007, 22:03
My golf has died on it's ass literaly as it rolled over to 169000 so it's engine out and rebuild it.
The bottom of the engine is covered in engine oil and it made some unhappy crunching and clunking noises before leaving a nice trail of oil on the floor. I'm hoping it's not from the gearbox and is just a gasket that has gone.

Anyhoo What gaskets and such are needed when taking a valver engine to bits and putting it back together any recommended changes whilst it's in bits? and any advice on how best to stop it leaking it's life blood all over the floor again?

Some pictures of the underneath where is the pin that leaves big hole in the box located?

Sounds more like the driveshaft seals have gone, It happened to mine, easy enough to just get a replacement or rebuilt box and do what needs doing. (changing it over)
