Title: Edition 30 Insurance?
Post by: Simonet on 13 February 2007, 13:22
Just wondering what quotes you guys & girls are getting for your E30's?

I'm 34
No Points / Convictions
Max No Claims Discount (10 years +)
Car Garaged
10,000 miles a year
Quiet Neighbourhood etc

Best quote so far is with..... Sainsbury's of all places

Quote is for Protected No Claims also

£470 + £20 Legal fees

Anyone got any better - I guess I'd be interested in GTI quotes too!

Insurance was one reason why I stuck with my GTi. I'm 26 with 5 points and a no fault crash last year, £560 for a year. I believe the Ed30 is a group higher than the GTi.

Update on my insurance

I've phones sainsbury's (sounds wrong) and they have now re quoted, as that price was for a standard E30

Re submitted costs!

Standard Golf GTI - £443
GTI E30 - £507

However both these costs are plus £20 (Legal and stuff)

So... £64 more for the E30... not too bad!

Oh and for the picky ones, this cost (if spread over 12 months) would be

1 x Initial Payment of £88
10 x Monthly payments of £44.96

Thats £10 a month more than my MK3 Gti 8v

Actually, the only other thing I failed to mention was the excess!!

Comp Excess = £200
Voluntary = £200

You can reduce the Voluntary, but the premium goes up £100 if you reduce it to just £200

if Sainsburys are giving a good price, try www.firstalternative.com also - they specialise in higher insurance group rated cars

Esure, Sheila's Wheels, Halifax, Sainsburys Bank and First Alternative are all part of the HBOS group, and all policies are underwritten by Esure - just think of it as different branding for different markets.

First Alternative are quoting under £500 for me

Worth a try :)

Bell Direct - £363 - Protected - £500 Excess - and for Buisness Class 1.
Funny if you put the other half down as a named driver it does make a small difference.

Still shopping for lower......
