Title: Removing Alloy handbrake handle

Hello all, just trying to bring my new 16v interior back to original spec.

The previous owner had installed various alloy parts, which have all now been replaced accept the handbrake handle.  I cant seem to see how you get the Alloy one off !!  there are no screws or bolts, and I've tried forcing it as much as I dare, but it just wont budge !  Anyone have any ideas?

there MUST be a grub screw in there some where. the actual handbrake isn't a cylinder and the plastic, genuine, handle clips on at the lower back edge. if in doubt, knock it off with a hammer, you won't do any real damage to the handbrake.

Gonna have to be the hammer  :grin:  Cant see any screws anywhere.

No doubt when I get it off the screw will be grinnin right at me !!

may have been glued, worst case unbolt it and swap another on there.  Just be aware there were 2 different levers depending on the year, it was around 88 they changed I believe.

The screw are always hidden.  I'll try to explain where as I have no pics (tell a lie just found one)

In this one they are at the back where the handbrake gaiter fits.  Other models have a screw on bit of trim at the front (show as chrome in the above pic) which unscrews and hides the grub screw. Hope that helps.

Will have another look..  not gonna actually take it off until the new one arrives.
