Title: gti 8v starting problem
Post by: madmatt on 11 February 2007, 18:22
first off hi this is my first post as ive just bought a 1990 8v in atlas grey

right heres my dilemma my car has now stopped starting up it kicks to life but dies straight away - but will run when firing easy start into the airbox but as soon as you stop spraying it dies.

we have had pulse testers on the start of the fuel rail and that is getting a pulse all leads are firing and getting a strong spark and the fuel pump is working as it should.

we disconnected a fuel pipe in the engine bay tried firing it over and it filled a milk bottle in seconds so i would say its nothing to do with teh fuel lines

any help would be greatly apprieciated

turn the key 1 click, does the pump prime or run continuously?
