Title: Removing arm rest from door card !!!
Post by: Smith on 24 January 2004, 10:40
Hey guys

I need some help.

Had my Mk1 for some time now when I took ownership of it the front door cards had been butched !!! (why do people do this?) been meaning to swap them for a long time for a mint set I got hold of some time ago.

Anyway started to do it this morning, but just can't work out how to get the top part of the arm rest out ???

Its got a chunk of metal on the back (T shaped) that I thought would just turn and come straight out, but it don't.......... and It wont..................help !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi!
Just had my door cards off the other day n the top of the arm rest had sort of ridges that wen u pushed the top of the arm rest down n then lifted,it popped straight out!
Didn hav any t-bar metal bit on it? If u hav popped the card all the way around, can u not see behind it n push the arm rest out by the back?  ???

Just got the fu*ker out ! :-[

Had to cut the door card a bit but they were heading for the bin anyway.

Dinky sorry mate it wasn't quite a T shape it but it does have the ridges on it that you were on about. Had to wiggle it up and down until it was completely free from them.

God knows how I'm gonna get them back in ?

Cheers

To release the top end of the arm rest you usually have to turn the whole arm rest upwards around 90deg. Should then pull out relatively easily. Putting it back in is usually a lot easier.

hi, i recently re attached my passenger door arm rest. to attach the arm i first had to hold the handle at an angle as to lock the top in place (ridged pin).once in place the handle is then eased down. it should now be impossible to pull the top out. i was missing some parts when i first tried this. vw main dealers still supply all the parts for the arm rests and only for a couple of quid.
hope this helps. :)

Drivers Door, arm rest starts at about 3 o'clock, just rotate anti-clockwise to about 10- eleven ish. Then it just pops out.
