Title: ET12 offset wheels?
Post by: mk2mark on 04 February 2007, 21:50
Will et12 wheels be undriveable/rub on a mk2 lowered 40mm? What's the standard offset?

Whoops that's not really enough info - the wheels are 15"x7 wide, I'm concerned about how it will affect the handling - is anyone running anything close to this?

Standard offset is 35-38, 24 is about the lowest you can go without serious rubbing issues.  With ET24 beemer wheels on mine the rear was fine but the fronts rubbed on harsh bumps & uneven cambers.

I have ET28 7j wheels, the front is fine but I've got 16mm spacers on the back which work out to ET12, and I need to bash my arches in a bit as it now rubs over bumps and with people in the back!

Edit: This is after lowering 40mm though...

Cool, great info - have you any pics? How did it affect the steering changing the scrub radius like that?

I didn't notice any difference after fitting the ET24 beemer wheels, and only my back wheels are ET12 atm.  I only fitted the spacers because I couldn't get the centre caps to fit over the rear bearing dust seals

I know it would be a mission to fit em up front, would need most of the metal chopping out I'd expect!
