My car is once again fooked but this time no friendly dubber came to the rescue it was bloody chucking it down and im talking flash flood weather. Car is now sat outside some sushi bar feeling sorry for itself. I tried the whole cleaning the dizzy cap and spraying it with wd40 but then (i know pathetic) I couldnt work out how to refit the dizzy cap it was pissing it down and I jus couldnt get the two clips (engine side and grille side) to clip the cap can anyone help with info on this I know its a bloody pathetic thing to ask for info on but I must be doin somethin wrong.

if it helps, I just changed my dizzy cap...
My mate helped me as I am a bit rusty on the turning spanners bit, but he used a screwdriver to lever them on, esp the back one...
Hope that helps!!!!

push hard on the part of the clip where it curves, it will straighten out and clip over the cap. (there are two recessed bits to aim for) Requires some force, as it needs to form a strong seal on the cap.

well ive managed to fkuc it up propper now! trying to wedge the front clip on snapped the cable to the fan off and ripped one of the ht leads out great job all round I say!
-
how the f**k can you do that?
It's not that hard to put the dizzy back on.

Avoid these in future PMSL :D :D :D :D :D :D you sure it was the right way up? the can go on either way but only one way is right.

its ok mate I struggled with mine for a while, best way is to squeeze the curve with your thumb, then try and flick up the end on the cap with a smal flat bladed screw driver.
-
like i told you too above.

This is the best post I've seen for ages!

yea I know I should have been a mechanic! well just wondering how much is a dizzy cap and set of HT leads? just dont wanna get ripped off! im taking it to Jock to get sorted in Marbella so just wondering how many yo yos tis gonna cost me.
-
Please tell me knowm im useless as a mechanic but surely someone on here knows how much these parts cost from VW. Cheers
-
If you buy from VW, it will not be cheap but you will have peace of mind that the parts are good ones. I paid in Madrid something like 40 euros for the genuine article. Take your permisso de conducir with you so that they can relate to your serial number. They do it that way here. As for fitting it, clip in the clip on the engine side first, then the rad side. The dizzy cap can only be fitted in one way, so make sure that as you are fitting it, you cannot rotate it.
The cost of genuine leads are expensive but worth the peace of mind for no aggro. Don´t know how much though.
If you have just pulled yours apart, you may be able to repair it again.

yea well the garage have told me 100 yo yos for the parts plus fitting so does that sound right? BTW mine is max18021984@hotmail.com

all in with rotor arm was 150 yo yos so not too bad then and thats with call out charge.
