Hi guys... I'm sort of new to this forum - normally I'm found on the Mk5 forum - but I've owned a fair few Mk2's in the pas few years... all of them standard until now. I have just bought an Oak Green 16v with 80k on the clock fitted with a fairly new Remus exhaust. I looked at the Remus site and reviews of Remus exhausts before I bought the car and from what I have read it should not be that much different in sound to the standard exhuast. However, between 3-4k revs it sounds really boomy especially inside the car itself... while after 4k revs the noise disappears completely. Is there a way to sort the noise out? Is there something wrong? Otherwise I may have to have the exhaust removed and a standard one fitted as my head is vibrating after a 2 hour journey from Surrey to Ipswich.

Hmm, count how many boxes there are, could be missing the first or second box?

Thanks... I'll look in the morning

Nope ... the exhaust looks fine

It sounds pretty normal to me. It will, without doubt, be louder than the standard exhaust. Whoever said it should be not much different to the standard was telling porkies!
All the Remus exhausts i have heard have sounded loud and mean!

So, it has three silencers?

I think your best bet mate is to put it on ebay and put a origanal one on as most aftermarket performance exhausts are all louder than stander ed apart from the one on my VR6 which dose not make any extra noise at all ( very annoying ) out come the baffles i think.
