Title: New issue of EVO
Post by: adw555 on 03 February 2007, 15:22
A good hot hatch review this time..Golf GTI, Type-R, Leon FR,Meganne, ST and VXR .... i guess I shouldnt spoil anyones read and reveal the result, but it's nice to read a review where they have taken the time to test all cars, both on a track and on the road..

Well done EVO.....best mag out there!

Autocar mag had a similer article with the Audi TT, Golf GTI, Seat Leon, Skoda vRS all cars that use the same chassis and running gear.

I don't think I've ever been so in love with a car as I am with that Alfa.
Gorgeous.

Yes, the write up was good and it was nice to see the Golf still come out on top - along with the Megane - but I think that a DSG Edition 30 would have pipped the Megane... pity the Edition doesn't have an LSD.

I for one was quite peeved - i very much rate the EVO tests and as yet they have not tested the ED 30 - seems like a good oppertunity missed!

What the CAR article and all the numerious others show though is how poorly written the original Autocar one was!

Must admit i was a little surprised that they did not use the ED30, but then again they were testing full production models and maybe that ruled out limited editions?

Evo are the only car mag that seem to know what they're talking about.  Thats why I've been reading it since 1st edition.
By sheer coincidence my last 3 cars have been 5 star evo cars.  Which is nice.

I'm in love with my R32 - sold it today    But I still have it for 2-3 weeks until the buyer gets the cash    Best car I've ever had - going to miss it even though I only had it for 2.5 months.... I'll get an R36 if they release one next year - esp if some business plans succeed

Thought you decided to keep her a while? Not even in the Ed30 yet?

Mmm created an interest here for me...

Evo VIII MR FQ340, 306 GTI-6 (My dads car now and knackered), Clio 182 (well the wifes car!), 205 GTI 1.9 (Still got and always will!), Caterham R400 (much missed but too dangerous for pubilc roads), Lotus Elise S2 111S (for 6 days - less legroom than cateham and front suspension fell apart - not good for a year old car )

Had a few 'fours' as well i'm afraid - but i see no stars for my old van and it's the best car i have ever bought!

I was going to keep her but I saw a house that I think I should buy - my first one - so I had to do the sensible thing and sell her... I'll miss it and somehow I just don't think the Edition 30 will be better but I can always get an R32 again - but the Edition 30 is limited.
Thought you decided to keep her a while? Not even in the Ed30 yet?

Good plan i guess. it's the house connundrum that stopped me upping the order to an ED30. The slight extra cost plus the extra running cost just crossed the line for me.

Anyhow, the GTi will be my second 5 star car in a row, following the MR2 roadster (which couldn't be more different), the car before was a 106 GTi which was a cracking 4.5 star motor.
