Any body had any dealings with venom??

Ordered a set of Apex springs off them last week, they turned up quickly, but it looks like they have sent the wrong springs, I thought apex springs were yellow, the ones I got are red, I order Apex product code 80-2010, 40mm drop for a 1990 valver, the springs I have got have 80-3316 stamped on them, and no APEX logo anywhere!!!

So god knows what springs they have sent??? They do seem to come form a "middleman" though, someone named "mountney" is the letterhead on the delivery note!

Emailed an hour ago but tehy don't offer email support, hopefully they will be open in the morning!

i have used venom a few times, based in Blackburn.

Everytime I have used them they have been super helpful on the phone and parts have arrived in double quick time. and the parts have been of a good quality too.

Just give them a ring mate they are pretty sound guys so should be happy to help you out if you are insure if you have the right springs

If your planning on ringing tomorrow, ask for Richard as he's the main man. He's not known for making mistakes, but he may have been let down by his 3rd party.

You might find that there are a certain series of Apex springs that are red, and some are yellow. Koni do the same, some are black and some are red.

I am going to call in morning, and I'll ask for richard! cheers for the heads up.

venoms invoice is for the correct part its the 3rd party that appears wrong, sure it'll be sorted!

just phoned them up, spoke to Richard as suggested.
He reckons I have been sent gmax springs because the apex have been out of stock!
Thats good eh!

He is looking into it on monday for as.

I didn't want gmax!

Just as well that I didn't fit them int it!

I have been sent gmax, I've checked the part number and they are indeed Gmax!
They work out about £10 dearer than the APX as well, so I haven't been ripped off in that sence!

I got some good recommendations on Apex thats why I went for them, Any thoughts on these Gmax springs, if they are good I can maybe workk something out with Venom??

I've heard a couple of dodgy things about gmax, although none were on a golf.

1. The springs kept working their way out of the cups on the shock absorbers that hold them in place. Both shocks and springs were gmax though so it may have been a dodgy shock?

2. The spring snapped!

Have a set of 40mm drop GMAX on with Boge Turbo shocks.  Pretty good set up as far as I am concerned, but then they replaced a set of sagging OE springs, and I have nothing else to compare them with.

Happy so far, though.

i'd say you have the right to either be sent the ones you actually ordered or keep the exsting ones.

more great news...
Apex are in liquidation, no suspension products available in the country! How come I picked Apex out of all the makes I could have got!!!

So GMAX were sent as a replacement, without my prior approval (or Richards @ Venom). Richard at venom seems to want to leave it at that. Me stuck with Gmax spings :rolleyes:

Only problem is I DON'T WANT GMAX! Another problem is I've lost my voice so can't phone up to have a crack with him direct.

I'm hoping I can get them swapped for something else, probably FKs or weitec or something, but until I get my voice back I screwed!


I'm have a poor couple of weeks!

Things will get better though!

I had a Gmax shocks and springs setup on my old car -40mm
was absolutely spot on. i couldn't fault it

also got gmax on mine with different bump stops than the original ones, i canr fault them either, drives nice, ask rubjonny too, he has driven my car

here we go final update...

phoned Richard today with my new found voice, very appologetic, he was kept in the dark about the swap...

It turns out the GMAX make springs for quite alot of people, such as Venoms own springs, P.I. and FK! So they should be a good spring if anyone fancies them.

I decided on a set of Weitecs, which Richard offered as a straight swap even though they are more expensive spring than Apex.

Should be here by early next week, and I'll let you know what I think!!

lastly - Venom are a good company to deal with so go on get your stuff ordered from them!!!!
