Hi all,
The suspension on my Mk2 GTI 8v seems really soft, even compared to my (don't laugh!) Escort TD. The Golf has done 125k miles (I think). Even in a straight line it wants to bounce all over the road, and it ducks & dives in the corners.
I want to lower it 40mm so I'll be buying new springs, but I should I buy new dampers as well?
Cheers
Si

Yes. Boge Turbo gas shockers- good value if you are on a budget- have been very happy with mine on a 35mm drop. Also, replace your top mounts if they have not been done lately.
If you build your new struts and springs before you take off the old ones the whole job should take no more than a couple of hours. (And I am not the world's quickest worker!)

Cheers for that mate. How much do the Boge shocks cost roughly? And where can I get them from?
Has anyone else got an opinion?

I have sachs advantage shockers on my lowered 8v, and its nice n toit
From what I've read boge & sachs are the same kit anyway!
I've got Boge -40mm springs on too, you could try GSF if you want to get the shocks & springs from the same place, since vwspares dont do lowering kits:
