Just bought a HID Xenon conversion for a mk 4 but also wanting to change the headlights to angel eyes. contacted the manufacturer for the headlights (which is in Germany) and he seems to think there will be a problem with an M.O.T. anybody know if this is true? angel eyes causing any probs with condensation??

ive heard angel eyes are LEGAL.. duno how true that is though..i really want a set of black angel eyes for me black mk4

E marked angel eyes are legal, although if by "black" you mean smoked or tinted, you'll probably get done on lack of light output.
You will have a problem with you HID kit though...
HID/Xeon upgrade kits are only legal (regardless of weather or not they're E-marked) if headlamp washers AND a self-levelling system are installed.
Also, if you're buying lights from the EU check they're RHD not LHD otherwise they'll fail on beam patterns.

I have had the following done on my mk3 highline, possibly applies to you also. I changed my std headlamp to inpro angel eyes. They are road legal because they are for RHD cars and NOT LHD, they passed MOT twice. I have attached the HID xenon kit just yesterday 09/02/2007, and they are BOSS. The xenon kit is not road legal, but does the job just great. To pass mot just take them out and put in your old bulbs, it's that simple.

Hi on my last mk4 i had angel eyes, with the black background opposed to the standard mk4 silver and they passed MOT fine, they were 'E' marked and the pattern of the light was fine!

done the angel eye and xenon conversion last weekend and got the lights aligned by an mot station. the guy didn't say anythin about the xenons being illegal and told me that my lights were fine. the angel eyes are e marked and also have a LHD/RHD shutter so you can switch between. so are the xenons illegal?
