I'm finally getting round to sorting out a few of the ickle niggles my 8v has since i got it ...
Racey idling is nearly all sorted - just got the Air Mass Sender to clean (I hope !)
Reverse Light Switch needs replacing ... Clutch Pedal Stop needs replacing (If anyone could help with parts let me know - yes I'm being lazy I know !)
The main thing that's bugging me now is the MPG for the MFA - I've done my homework and using the hidden features on the MFA can see it's not reading any Vacuum ... so it's either a faulty sensor on the cable has popped off as it's fine under the bonnet.
I keep hearing horror stories about people trying to get to the back of their instrument panel because of the speedo cable - any tricks to this ?
Also, can anyone roughly say where the vaccum pipe should locate if I'm working blind with my hand behind the dash !!!!

The idling on my 1995 8v is a bit blippy on tickover, how do i sort this?
Cheers

Well your being a '95 it's not a Mk2 I'm guessing ???
Check the Mk3 section - I'm sure it's the ususal suspects though - Air Mass Sensor - ISV - Air Leaks etc

i done a post before about clutch pedal stops, B&Q for 1.50 or something
ill see if i can dig it out

oh I'm going to play wi my car tonight he he!!

the mpg on your MFA....
The rubber hose behind the clocks is probably pulled out.
You did have trouble with these hoses and you probably pulled it out.
;)

either that or it's come off the other end that is on the right end of the inlet manifold.
to remove the dials from a mk2 dash follow these destructions...
remove your headunit
remove your switches
remove your heater controls
there's 3 screws along the top and 5 along the bottom to undo.
remove dash surround.
there are 2 more screws left and right of the dials. once these are free reach round the back and unplug the speedo cable.
remove the 1 or 2 (depending on year of golf) plugs on the bottom and if should come free. The rubber vacume pipe doesn't put up much of a fight and easily comes free.
Hope this helps :)

Cheer guys - not looking forward to removing the head unit though :S
Too many phat RCA's !!! Took and ages just to get the bugger in the first time ....
