I got a red Edition 30 ordered. Has to be 5 door due to too many children.
Now I like the black one in the showroom. The dealership said I can take the one off the forecourt or can wait for 1st March for my red one to be delivered.
So.....any thoughts on the better colour? Red or Black?
Traditionally I always thought the Gti looked better in Red. But I am starting to think the black is better in the Edition 30.
Votes please. Red or Black?

no contest...... black
-
Given that choice, black.
But really not considering white? It's a classic GTi colour!

I have a diamond black car so I'm baised, but its a b!tch to keep clean, especially in london. Im guessing red isnt so hard, but hey who am I to know? However I guess white is even harder to keep clean than black. I guess it depends how clean u want to keep your car?

I have to say I'm a big fan of the Red on the GTI but if it was a car I was going to own I would choose Black over Red.
Having said that I've been looking at an Ed30 today and if I order I would buy Steel Grey as I think it looks fantatsic on the Ed 30.

Ditto - but how good does it look for that half hour after its just been cleaned and polished!!!
For what its worth, IMO you cant beat a sparkling diamond black GTI (except for Candy White which the girlfriend ruled out!), but a muddied red one looks better than a muddied black one - its just a good job I enjoy cleaning it
-
true, it does look good after its been cleaned.
shame about those wanky alloys on the ED30, other wise I might be jealous!

You only get half an hour with diamond black? Guess I'm going to get about 5 minutes of clean and shinyness with a white one...

I went in to order my Edition 30 in Red, but as soon as i saw the one in the show room in Black, Black it just had to be, By far the better colour.

I think Black does look mint, on the other hand most peeps are going for that and i wouldnt want to Be another BLACK GTI owner. if i was splashing out the cash on a new gti, it would have to be white... imo the most stunning looking one of the lot. Ok it gets dirty quick but it still looks class . Although it does look like a storm troopers helmet ! (star wars fans know what i mean). All the new white hot hatches coming out, whether its a focus ST ,Honda civic ,New clio 197 or Megane 225     white certainly makes you look twice at them as they attempt to pass by!

here are some nice pics of a 5 door red one.....just like my baby being born build week 6....cant wait...........but also like the black one in many of the show rooms.

I'm with you Phil, nice to have a different colour. Trouble is the ED 30 range of colours is so restrictive (for my taste) it'd have to be black which does not highlight the painted skirts to their full IMO.
If only it came in blue. Grey would be my choice...

I'd play safe and go for the Black car! I used to have a black Golf (hard to keep clean) but amazing for those few seconds it was spotless after a wash!

I think the red will look good with the sunroof which will be black and add some contrast on the top. As that is what I ordered I can only pray that is the case.

Ive ordered red, because Ive had a black metallic C230 and just like the picture above it annoys that it always looks dusty .
Or is that just me.

I agree. Matallic black just has that affect. It would be better if they offered a matt black. My choice would be red as well.

I have to get my tuppunce in - black for me. Mine (although not an ED30 is non metallic, looks really glossy almost wet when clean (forgive the pun)
i think the shine reflects better than a metallic.
