Hi, I am new to the forum and a new owner of a mk 3 16v,
my previous car was a 2.0 8v, which is in perfect condition body wise, I have given it to my daughter, the 16v is a different animal altogether,20k less mileage but the body is crap, namely the front of each sill has had a poor repair on it with the plastic covers being ripped aside instead of removed. there are  bubbles elsewhere on the car but they arent peforated so will be easy to sort. is this unusual for a mk3 or was I just very lucky with the 8v?
the other thing is the gear selector, its pot luck which gear you get, does anyone know how to adjust this?

Nice dubs fella, i'm also a new member who has just purchased a 16v, having difficulty posting pics thou, can tou help with that?

thanks for the replies, one of the gti's is going when I get the m reg 16v motted, not enough room for em all.savagegti, I took pics with digi camera, reduced them in file size, and uploaded them to muchos which is a free picture posting site, and they give you the codes to put them on forums.

Welcome.

If the 16V you are describing is the N reg in the pics then I'd say its not normal. But you dont say how many owners its had or what the mileage is.
So really its down to how well the car has been treated, no hard and fast rules.

its the m reg with 80k on the clock, the n reg is 8v with 107k and perfect body, though I did have to fit a bonnet

thank you all, 16v just failed mot due to emissions, cat, should be on the road next week.
