Title: YES!!!!!......my first GOLF GTi

Evening all!
I recently purchased my first Golf mk3 GTi (1998) after writing off my Volvo S40 T4, ironically I was hit head on by a mk5 Golf!
Anyway i'm really impressed with the Golf!
I've had the car since Tuesday 23 Jan 07, but less than an hour ago as I was parking it wont reverse, but does go into reverse gear? also the reverse lights go on then off?? can anyone help!?

sounds like the reverse light switch on the g/box or could just be a loose wire

The thing is the car wont reverse!? when engaged in reverse it goes forward!!??

Sure you are locating the correct gear?

Sounds as if it could be the selector or the synchromesh. Whatever it is - its definitely a box out and repair job!
