How much do you lot pay for your insurance?
I pay ?420 fully comp.
-
Looking to renew next month and the best quote so far is ?448 Fully comp, with Herts Insurance Company. (25 with 4yrs NCB and one non fault claim). Standard 8v '97 P.
Who are you with and how old etc
-
well i'm 26 with full ncd and its guaranteed (i.e i'll never lose my bonus no matter how many claims).
i'm with LV but then i work for them so i get a discount!!
they're not too bad. my girlfriend has a BMW 316i compact, shes 25 with full ncd and our cars cost ?760 total.
i asked because my old 306 xsi was a lot quicker but was ?50 a year cheaper - that'll be vw parts prices for you then!
-
Hmmmm .... should try living in N. Ireland. ?630 fully comp - 97 GTI 8v
-
bloody hell - thats a lot!
dont fancy trying for a VR6 then.....
-
i,m in n.ireland. i,m paying ?830 for a vr6 fully comp
-
Well im looking at over ?600 for whatever car :o as im 21 with 1yr NCD...

Cheers

Ows, I'm 35 with 8 yrs ncb and in a low risk area. My bro, who @ 21 insured a 16v clio paid ?1200 3 yrs ago .... kinda put things in perspective. Or out of it!!!
My bikes kawaski zx6r and the bmw r1100rt were ?209 insured TOGETHER ;D.
No complaints about them, just the 4 wheeled vehicles.
-
I took out insurance with axamotor.co.uk
I have an 8V GTI 1993.
I am 25 with 3 years NCD with 1 non-fault claim in Jan 2002 living in Cambridge.
I have found that adding my girlfriend to the insurance policy reduces the premium. With axamotor.co.uk they quoted me ?520 fully comp for just me driving. Once I added my girlfriend it went down to ?422 fully comp. Seems to be the case with a lot of the quotes I got.

Yep, while talking to the insurance broker, he said the same, when insuring its cheaper with partner included, and that goes both ways, for her car and for mine. Did you know that having the car garaged takes a whole ?8 off? :o
-
I used to be a motor insurance adviser (not any more thank god!) and found out few interesting things.
1. 3pts dont make diddly squat difference. apart from if those 3 points take you to 12 points and get you banned....
2. It is cheaper to put your missus on the plan coz of it being a shared risk.
3. spoilers, sports exhausts and alloys make hardly if no difference to premium. chips, lowering and roll cages make a huge difference (as they think you're going to drive it a lot quicker - as if.....)
4.Even if you have a no fault claim your premium can go up as you have had an 'incident'.
The rules are general so dont shout if your experience was different!
-
I pay ?413 fully comp age 35 for me & the mrs MK3 8v 1995 i non fault claim with protected NCB
-
I pay ?690 4ync with the aa ,iam 22
-
I have just insured my Mk3 8v GTI with Barry Grainger Insurance brokers for ?410 fully comp. I'm 25 with 4yrs NCB and 1 non fault claim. That includes the mrs for no extra cost, but not protected NCB and the xs is ?250. Not bad though and a ?200 improvement on my renewal premium I got from elephant.co.uk. Worth a go! ;D
-
insurance :)
im with Tesco's of all people ( bank of scotland)
7yrs ncb on 2.0i cabrio ? 325 :) full com,but as usual 2 imob's fitted
cheap as chips
-
Bloody hell!
Am I living on another planet or do insurance companies just not like my name?
I'm 20 (3NCB) with a standard 2.0 8v P reg and I enjoy paying ?740 third party fire and theft with Adrian Flux.
I think insurance companies think 20 year old + Gti = liability.

£460 py, 1 year NCB - 1st Central. Without a doubt the cheapest, but have heard horrendous feedback on them.

I was with first central for about a year some time ago...not too bad and were pretty flexible on how you pay.
I am £380 with elephant. 24 with 5 NCD

I was paying less on a V90 10 years ago than I pay on my 8v now, and I am nudging 40 :lipsrsealed:

Insurance companies are making up the prices these days. My Mk3 Gti 8v is only £15 a YEAR cheaper than my Leon Cupra (500 per year fully comp 7 year no claims). They (Admiral) had my golf down as a 16v so phoned up to correct it and they said both the 16 and the 8v were the same price to insure, Any changes I suggested to bring the cost down came back the exact same price. My renewal is due soon anyway and expect a hike so will just change companies.
-
im with tesco this year 33 with 1yrs ncd and paying just under 450 iirc lol

8 and 16v are in different groups :undecided: so should be a cost difference......
Really cant understand why a Mk3 costs so much to insure, I paid nearly £400 tpft 3* years old 9 years ncb one fault accident in 15 years £2k claim.

Thats what i said to them but still no chage in price. Sound very dubious if you ask me. Almost fraudulent.
-
I insured my 8v mk3 and 16v mk2 today. They are lowered with wheels and exhausts etc cost me £580 fully comp for both. I'm 32 with admiral and have our gert on the policy
-
£500 fully c with mods declared for my ssat..... and to think I'm a shareholder (and worker) for a major insurer, it's still £120 more than last year!
-
Admiral are kn**s. I rang them up and they tried telling me my £1000 quote i got would now be over £1600 after adding my 3 points I genuinely forgot about. And when I asked if the cost would go down when I turned 21 in 2 weeks i was told "No because the computor can see that your nearly 21 so takes it into account" what a load of utter rubbish. Needless to say on my 21st birthday i done a quote online with my 3 points and it came back as 770. Ridiculous, do it online to save talking to them money snatching f%$&ers.
21 2 yrs NCB gti 8 v.
-
with the car off the road having the 20vt conversion done iv passed my renewal time so they waiting for me to tell them when im ready to renew.
but as a 16v mk3 with an agreed value on my mods at £4000 it was £791.
as a 20vt with bhp cap at 210bhp again agreed value at £4000 it went to £942
thats being 24 2 year ncb and 6 points on an IN10 (which is bad)
-
on my mk3 1.4 tesco and every other company wanted nearly 2k with mods! ( back box, bigger alloys, coilovers etc ) but then sky insurance said £600 so i took it. i have 2 years no claims im 27 and only passed my test two years ago. seems like i have a fair bit more nc to get before i can have a vr6 :-(
but they would't let me take out fully comp.
-
800 euros a year ,fully comp on my vr6
-
No ncb and 8v is 340 and vr is 380 both on classic car policies.
-
crikey thats pretty good ,there was a similar topic a while back and it also depends on your postcode ,as some areas are more prone to car crime than others
-
3 years ago my ABF was £265 fall comp
My 8v is £325 fall comp
My vr is £415 fall comp
I'm 25 and that's with admiral
-
i usually pay my insurance monthly, and i was paying £25 a month with sky
my 1 litre toyota aygo is £20 a month

`you went through your mother' ?? Where I come from this means something VERY different to what I believe you're implying!

This is a very handy thread, thanks for the information.
I think i will try admiral as i am currently paying £700 a year with VW - 35yrs, 2yrs NCD- no points :huh:methinks i am being ripped off as i had a 50% increase last renewal!
cheers!

I was with Admiral for a couple of years, they are alright - the call centres are ok and I would say the prices were reasonable. I was paying £700 then full comp with zero no claims on a GTI 8v and was living in London, so high premiums.
