I havn't seen this myself yet, but my dear old Dad passed a car on his travels with a "for sale" sign in it. He stopped and enquired as I mentioned I wanted a project for easter/summer.
He's convinced it's a MK1 Golf but a "Van" version!??? The owner said it's a 1.6 standard, no mot or tax, bout 10 years of history, V5, 4 digit private number plate, been dry stored for the last 5 years since it was last on the road.
I showed him some photos of Caddys and Caddy conversions into vans (fibreglass aftermarket addons) and he said it wasnt them, he says its exactly the same as my 3 Door MK1 except the rear passenger side windows are the same colour as the car - like fibreglass or metal. - Not glass.
Is this just a MK1 with some weird mod or is there an actual MK1 "Van" out there? - I'm gonna go and have alook tomorrow evening but was just curious.

Argh, turns out it's a 1985 MK2 Van - 60K, FSH, 1.6 - Starts & Runs, slight rust on bottoms of doors, very dirty inside but just needs a clean, good tyres, steelies, suspension & bushes seem fine, arches are fine, sills have no welding from what I can see. Front seats are in very good nick, It's red, paint is fairly faded, but with a respray would be mint car.
Electrics are all fine, engine mounts seem good, gear box seems very nice, no slips or crunches.
Wants £100 for it. is it worth it?
