Title: Gear lever alignment tools?
Post by: mk2mark on 25 January 2007, 11:12
As per the other thread, what interest would there be in these if I could supply em at say £6?

tbh i bought on off ebay for around that price and it wasnt much good, i still had to get someone to sit inside the car and hold it in place while i tightened it all up. and once i had finished with it, it was unlikely i would need it agian so i sold it on.

so i doubt you would sell many.

sorry to be a stick in the mud

No problem, that's what I want to hear, it looks like the drawing I have is fairly good (thanks rubjonny), so if there's a problem it won't be because it's a loose fit etc.

Is that just a one off dealer or do they all have em?

Better to have some monkey sit in the car (usually me with my car!) and hold it in place, plus check gears while someone else adjusts...

i bought mine off ebay and it was spot on. i have used mine more than once and for that price why sell it on.

just because you have aligned the gears this once doesn't mean it will be spot on forever!

If i were you mark2mark and i could knock em up for little cost then i would do it.

there will always be someone who wants one of these, if not on here then on ebay.

Go for it!!

i need one for my car, i cant select reverse for more than about 1 second without it popping out. trouble it, those alignment tools rely on the white plastic bit to be in the right place, but mine is bent out of position.

whats the way of doing it without a tool?>

I believe that white plastic bit is the reverse gate. If your having issue with getting into reverse, you might wanna look there.

yah blessani, if its bent you can swap it theyr not ery expensive afaik.. but a cheaper and easier way to do it f yo dont want to buy the tool yet, use a cassette tape, the thinner tp end of it, perfect, thats the way mine ahve been alinged since the engine went in 5 months ago

Bad news people, the place I've been talking to have only got a plasma cutter, they had a go at making them but they're just too fiddly. Is there really much demand for them? I could get them done somewhere else, but they're not something you need, to change the relay shaft bushes you certainly don't need one.
