Right I've had enough of TomTom on a PDA with a bluetooth GPS on the dash after a bit of driving today the bluetooth GPS was in the passenger footwell, and the PDA was sulking upside down in the cup holder (hey I was having fun)
So time to bite the bullet and get something nice in the car.....
I'm thinking of getting the Alpine IVA-W200Ri/099 (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/4931.html) although not from these chaps, I know you can add in bluetooth as well and it should work with the steering wheel and provides iPod goodness....
Has anyone got it installed, before I sign up for it ?

Looks good - still prefer the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 (or UK equivalent - http://www.pioneer.co.uk/uk/products/10/20/AVIC-HD1BT/media.html), though it's a lot more pricey

This also looks the biz - some very good posts and DIY links on this site:

going to have a play at my local place a bit later today, been told the Alpine Bluetooth kit isn't available yet for the IVA-W200Ri which is a shame as I normally prefer Alpine....
Still going to cost around 2K UKP!
A late Christmas present for me perhaps (after all I was quite good last year!)

Had a play with both units and I think I'm going to go with the Pioneer, especially as they are going to allow POI uploads of the speed camera DB on a CD/R....
-
Which pioneer did you look at? I'm quite keen on the idea of one thing that does everything and having the ability to move it to my next car even if that is not a golf.

they say on the you tube video thats its only $1000, seems very cheap, wonder what it will be in UK pounds?

Had a look at the AVIC HD1BT, great bit of kit, UK price is of course not a straight conversion from dorrar, think the install will be just north of 2k!
Still the Alpine works out about the same and there is no capability to add in the speed camera DB, and you can't rip CD's to HDD for those rare moments when you haven't got your iPod.
Will post up the install quote when I get it.
(and having had to deal with c**p traffic on the commute home this evening I like the idea of TMC data....
whatever I get put in, I'll post up pics.
