Title: Help with mk3 purchase.
Post by: HuwMk2 on 22 January 2007, 19:10
Hi all. Seen a mk3 gti 16v for sale. 3 dr N reg 1995 in red. It was a cat d write-off but was repaired. The head gasket has gone. The bodywork is fair, a little rust and a dent in the driver's door. What should I pay, I was thinking no more than £150 tops. What do you think???

Well just think of how much you are willing to spend to get this car back on the road, and then consider how much the market value of the car will be (bearing in mind it's a cat d). Personally, the money you'd spend on getting the car back on the road, i'd put towards getting a cleaner car.

Depends how much of the work you can do yourself.
If none then dont bother!

It will be worth well under a grand at best with everything sorted.
