Why didnt he just buy one!! instead of spending a fortune on it !! bit to boy racer for me imo..

"It gives you extra confidece on the road and the ladies are loving it (my own experience)." :embarassed: Jesus mate - grow a c@ck.
"The only bad thing about this car, if u can call it bad thing is that has been in a very light accident in the past(1year ago) and is recorded as cat D (the lightest one)." IF you can call it a bad thing?! What else would you call it if you car was in an accident and then written off?
-
Perhaps he rear ended some poor misfortunate soul whilst checking out the ladies??!!

Quite convincing from the outside! Like the bonnet. What a knob though... I'd at least of got a Gti steering wheel!!
Must be a collection of various cars from the breakers on Ebay.
-
I wonder if it will still be cheap insurance if you declare all the mods??? me thinks NOT!!!
-
really does look real on the outside. i think the main problem here is if you pull up at the lights and u got a mini cooper s or whatever that wants to race you, your just gona lose.
-
INCREDIBLE!! 100bhp!!! . This gives a bad name to real gti owners - imagine a guy with a fiat panda 1.4 racing against this guy at the lights - showing off to the ladies that his panda was able to keep up with a done up gti!!! Why?!
-
Why bother!!!
-
Can you imagine trying to explain this car to the insurance company......you phone up and try and explain that it has loads of GTI bits and it now looks like its worth more that it is (on the outside), and will be more expensive to repair when its damaged than a 1.4. So it would have to be insured as modified, but only for looks, this guy is one desparate tw&t.
I suppose it proves that the GTI is still unobtainable by the likes of this guy, which cant be a bad thing, keep them in 1.4s is what I say!
Wasn't there a guy on this forum who was asking about putting a GTI front end on his 1.6?
-
You'll probably find this guy has done it because of the prang he had in it.
It's more than likely he's had a settlement from the insurance company and instead of replacing OE parts, he's gone down the GTI replica route - at the time, the cost of upgrading to GTI parts over the standard 1.4 parts wasn't too much.
The cost of the transformation was probably £3500, with the insurance company probably donating £2750 of it....
-
Good thinking! That makes sense.
-
actually guys,
i've done the same thing to my 1.6.
Tho, i've not got the carbon fibre bonnet, or the nasty aftermarket alloys, i went for a set of genuine 18inch Monzas.
anyway, i doubt it actually cost him that much to do it.
my car cost just under £1k to do everything in total, so i reckon the guy is bullsh***** abt the cost to try and jack up the price.
-
Why would you do this?
-
^^
why does any1 do anything to their cars?
i didn't like the look of it as standard, so jus changed the front bumper.
insurance prevents mne from the real deal for the time being.
-
i can understand why someone would want to change the looks of a car to make it look like a newer model.
take a look at the peugeot i have....what it looked like when i got it, to what it looks like now.

.....now tell me that doesnt look better?
-
I hate the fact that he's got a GTI badge on it!!!!!!!!!!
I reminds me of when i used to kick around in my Type R, one of the local lads had Type R badges all over his 1.6 Sport! why oh why!?!?!
-
just checking the latest bid on the hunkajunk stands at £7599!!!! oh my god, hopefully ebay might remove it from auction for sympathy to the owner!
-
Phil
i reckon your talking this down so that you can buy it cheaper lol
I like the bit about fitting a GTi exhaust gives you much more power, I wonder how much? from 100 to 200bhp perhaps? lol
Maybe theres a GTi somehwere with all of those bits missing

It did - then you whitened the bumpers so it doesn't  - you did ask me to rise to the challenge!
Forum language usually has shortened text for the true meaning - is there one yet for 'each to their own' (ETTO?)
-
I don't see what the big fuss is about :undecided:
They can't afford insurance on a GTI but like the looks of them so done the next best thing for them. People have been doing it for years, at least it isn't wearing some big plastic jap inspired bodykit

You mean like this!

Nice!
-
Come on now... give the guy a break. He's probably near suicidal after reading all the comments on here. Maybe he can't afford a GTI - I'd go down the Mk1/2 route personally - maybe he wants to turn a negative situation into a positive - by using the accident money to make a profit and it seems to be working.
As for that 'modded' car Ollie - please please take it off as it looks    and I can feel a wretching in my throat.... now the owner of that monstrosity needs to be BANNED from ever owning a car again.

...unless its really a MINI one diesel with £3500 spent on it. Cooper S alloys, bonnet scoop...the laydees are lovin it. Blah blah blah
-
If you look at the bidder who "won" this auction he now has -1 negative feedback from the seller - guess he thought it was a P.O.S when he turned up
Shame really.. the normal Golf's a good car. He's only gone and butchered it!
