Can anyone tell me if i'am missing a relay. Fitted mk2 gti pb digi with 2L bottom end into my caddy. Getting no spark from the coil and can only think its a prob at the fuse panel.

what year wiring loom is it? they changed from '89-'90 onwards. did the donor car have the hazard switch on the dash or steering column?
-
Its the early wiring mate so it plug and plays in the mk1 fuse panel

Just had a sparky round who's not long megasquirted a 1.8t in his caddy . He's got my caddy sparking now but looks like my battery and starter aint got the balls anymore so gunna nick the starter off my gti and wait for the g/f to turn up in the ibiza so i can jump start it. Fingers crossed

any idea what was up with it?
-
Not to sure really, dont think the coil was getting an earth signal from the fuse panel. He did something and now it sparks anyway. He was here 3 hours on it hence why mi battery as lost its balls.
He now thinks the starter is'nt good enough to turn the engine over fast enough to fire up.
The starter is my original that was fitted to the 1.6 carb, would that be ok?

Hmm, afaik all the 8v ones are the same? The 16v & diesel ones are stronger though, I'll have a lookie on ETKA...
Well etka is useless
Get the battery charged up and see how it goes for a week or so :)

My battery was only reading 50% on my charger so i'll wait til the bugger's fully juiced up then give it another go.
I know the diesel starters are different but dint know the 16v was, learn something everyday!.
Was gunna take the starter off the gti to see if that works, will see what the outcome of the battery does first though, less work
