I've noticed recently that the car windows have been steaming up more than normal- just found that the carpets were wet under the rubber mats on both sides (front and back- my car is 3 door). I checked in the engine bay, the drains aren't obviously blocked there. The seats aren't wet, so presume not leaking from the sunroof. The only other thing I can think of is that I had the windscreen replaced about a month ago- could this lead to water getting to the floor pan (I thought it would be unlikely) or should I look for something else?? Any tips/advice appreciated!

I read a good guide here -

Don't worry, you are not alone, I will be going through all these myself soon, when it stops raining of course!!!
Good luck!

Very common on Mk IIs. From my experience you should check the drain holes in the bottom of the doors first. If these block (which they do) water can spill out into the footwells front and back. If not, often the membrane behind the inner door-trip panel can come away from the door or even tear. This can also cause water to come in.
Otherwise, windscreen could be the problem but I would say less likely. Passenger footwell could suggest heater matrix, but you say both sides and you would notice a loss of coolent.

My car had this problem - became absolutely sopping wet through - turned out to be the door membranes. They were just taped back up carefully and the drain holes cleared out. The problem's not recurred!

Another common one is the drains above the front wheels. The water that goes through the grill on the bonnet goes out through these, mine were full of gunk when the same thing was happening.
