Title: Steering column loose
Post by: jenson on 16 January 2007, 16:41
I've just noticed my steering column is very loose. i can move the whole thing up and down with the wheel and it veers to the right slightly, anyone know what might be causing this?? just did a big bumper conversion, would this have anything to do with it?
Car is a 1.3 with no power steering

look unde the column, you'll see a large hole in the plastic trim thru which you can just make out an allen bolt.  If you cant see it, just remove the bottom half of the plastic trim.  Tighten up the allen bolt :)

Already did that, the allen bolt is as tight as it goes!

Remove the dash under tray, its all under there.  Worth doing this then moving the wheel, may help you track down where the play is coming from.

FIXED!! turned out to be a loose screw in the bracket just under the clocks that holds up the column
