Title: Water on bulk head
Post by: gibby on 21 January 2004, 10:21
Got a question that I hope someone can give me some advice on. I've got a Rivage on a 91 plate and it's kept outside so when it rains the water goes through the bonnet vent and sits nicely on the bulk head. Great!  I know there are two draining holes at either side that get blocked with leaves and such and I've cleared them, but the water doesn't seem to drain out fully until the car moves. Anyone any ideas or advice ?

Has your scuttle got any cracks in it?  If so replace.  Also check the bonnet release gromit and around the blower fan intake if these dont seal right then water can seep in.  Just chuck a big blob o' grease all over em and see if that helps.  Have a look in the scuttle area and make sure all the rubber blanking gromits are in place and sealed properly too.

Another thing, are you sure thats where the water is coming in?  Its common for water to leak in through the front windscreen seal, worth checking that too.

Not meaning to sound ignorant, but which bit is the scuttle ? As far as I can see there's no water coming inside and the only obvious place is through the bonnet vent but I'd best check it out first.

Thanks for the advice.
