Title: gear change problem

 :smiley: when i change into each gear it feels like the gear stick is catching  and sometimes bit hard to get in gear any ideas of problem .

Could be most anything. Clutch, cable, synchromesh. The G/box has a hard life. I changed the G/box oil for something new and better and it slips into gear lots easier now.

Mine's a complete pain in the ringpiece aswell, getting it into 1st and 2nd is a complete pain and 3rd occasionally grinds. It had a new clutch last month a few days before I bought it too

hmmm change the fluid, check the all the bushes and replace if needed.

One thing i would do to any manual mk3 as well, is to strenghten the firewall behind the clutch pedal.
Not uncommon for this to pop through. Easy to do from the engine side with a couple of good welds and a small steel plate fitted around it. Any good mechanic will know how to do this.
