Title: Whats the top speed ?

Off the top of their head, whats the top speed of a non-modded Mk 3 8V / 16V ? Just wondering not trying to set a new record or anything.

I've had it upto 134 and measured it using GPS on a 16v and ran out of road,  I could get more.

Have been told 137mph for a 16v.
I personally have seen 135 on the clock in mine and felt there was a bit more.

Have heard that an 8v will max out at 125mph.

lol mine won't! ~110ish maybe with the wind behind you? But tbh I don't speed now and I haven't got a track to test on.....  :smiley:

Had 115 out of my 8V and there was still some left

seen 140 on the clock on mine.. not sat at that speed to see if theres more though.. doubt it..

He might be right Len - he did say it was 140 on the clock and we all know how accurate that's going to be at those sort of speeds....

nah 137 is just the spec'd max aint it?

i never really checked what RPM i was at.. due to actually err being worried about running out of airfield ;)

O.K.
I just remember that when I said I had done 135 mph and felt there was some left that you said the max was 137 exactly!

 :rolleyes: Had 128 out of my 8v 2 litre without any cross wind, reckon I could of just tipped 130. After a good service.
