I've been given the opportunity to buy a 1.8 GL as a daily/second family car. I've yet to see it, but it's a 1996 N plate described as red. I won't go into details about history etc, but what were the reds available on the Mark 3 was it tornado red and flash red, and then the burgundy? Did VW sort the issue with the reds at this point in production i.e. fade and oxidation etc?
Does anyone have any tidy pics of their red rides?!
Thanks guys,
Si.

Mine after some hardcore t-cutting yesterday, still needs to be waxed, on a P plate

is it called flash red does anyone know?
-
That's come up lovely - had it suffered from fading or oxidation at all?
-
Not at all, I just knew it would look awesome when done and there were some scratches i wanted to get out. I parked next to a golf CL 1.4 i think it was the other day, it was a darker burgundy red and the paintwork was absolutely shocking on it, it looked pastel! Ignore the wing mirrors, they don't match and the girl that had it before imortalised them! Got 2 in the garage awaiting paint

Cool mate - I'm kind of hoping that they addressed the issue with mark 2 tornado red with the late mark 3s? I have a mark 2 jetta in the same colour which really needs to be kept on top of. It's pretty sweet, but it's tough going keeping it nice! Didn't fancy moving to a mark 3 which requires the same work - don't get me wrong - I like detailing, but when you have a young boy, it's time spent rather doing something else with him you know?
Lewy - cheers - that a cracking example that - what colour is it mate?

I think all P reg on were Flash Red and some N reg too. Much nicer than Tornado Red IMO
-
^^^ what about L reg, 1993? were they flash red too?
-
i think the first flash red cars were M reg 1994 ish as i've seen both colours on that reg before
