Title: Seat Bolsters
Post by: Uruk Hai on 12 January 2007, 13:14
I'm thinking of renewing the foam piece on the bottom of my drivers seat, my question is would the foam from any other MK2 GTI fit my 91 model, the seats are grey with red stripes as per the later MK2's, ant advice appreciated, thanks

yup 90+ seats have different shaped bolsters.  Swapping the seat base fabric/bolsters over is an easy job, but the backrest is a little more fiddly.

Thanks for that chaps, I'll know which bit to get now. I'm guessing that the 90 > ones are still one piece ?

you just need patience, I can do a seat base swap in about 20 mins or less now

yup 90+ seats have different shaped bolsters.

Are they the same shape as corrado seats then, just without the lower subframe?

unfortunatly not, the rado bolsters are seperate for a start!
I think the MK3 GTI seats have the same bolsters & fabric though, but not 100% sure.  I know for a fact you can swap a MK3 base foam & fabric onto a MK2 base, which helps alot when you fit MK3 seats :)

Oh right, that's a shame. I loved the way the corrado seats support you, but where the frame was so low the driving position ended up giving me a trapped nerve at the top of my leg. Not cool
