I'm just having a think about what wheels I want for this golf - I'm tempted towards ats cups, but I've always liked 6 spokes too but I don't think I've seen any that suit the kind of look the golf has. Simething between 6 and 8 spokes with a bit of lip is what I'm thinking of right now, but I'm open to any suggestions.

I'm having simular thoughts for mine. can't really afford them at the mo, but i think the 15 x 8 cups are great. or some borbet A's?
i also like your relay shaft bush picture as it reminds me of a hula hoop, a tasty snack indeed.
-
You're not the first person to say that actually  I might have to put a warning in with them saying do not eat
-
Depends what look your after , but likes been said ATS cups on big bumpered mk2s look the nuts
-
ATS cups look good with a low profile tyre and the car decked to hell i think. i like huge dished Borbet A's better though (TOM GET THEM)
-
Cups always looks good as do borbet's, though i think the widened bbs' are the ones. It does depend what you can stumble accross and when but they sometimes come up.
-
Get something unusual. Too many peeps have the same wheels. (unless they are dished BBS RM or RS of course, they don't count!)

true indeed...
also unless you get crazy dished ats cups i think they generally look too small on mk2's.

Hi, I have a few sets of wheels that I have on ebay at the moment. I tend to agree with the sentiment that the rarer the better. I also have one or 2 sets going on this Sunday night as well including 7.5Jx16 & 9Jx16 Borbet A's, a set of stunning Rial chrome & gold 8Jx15's etc. I also still have these as the guy has not yet paid as he is unsure about the fit for his polo... ebay item 180072148962. Also loo at the items for sale sectio as I am just putting a few links on.

Ok. BBS splits are the best wheels for any Mk2. Period. But if you're a touch lazy like myself, the wipe clean Borbets still present a tough yet clean, understated look. ( wow, i actually sound like i know what i'm talking about! )
-
Borbets for winter, RS's for summer  thats kinda my plan anyway using my azev's for winter and getting myself a nice set of splits when i come into money for the summer period.

Ok, I'm not sure about the BBS's, the only ones I really like seem to be way to expensive. I've always liked 6 spokes on any car, but I think they'd really go well with the golf look, and I don't think I've seen what I'm thinking of on a golf so thats the unique thing coverered. The question is is there a set out there that suit the golf? I think they'd have to have a bit of a lip, and I don't think out of principle I could put something on that's much heavier than the steelies that are on it. Here's a pic o fthe wheels on the other car, but I reckon they'd look to modern for the golf?

or if u look in jan's PVW (the one with the 2 colour concept mk3's) they have a set of wheels in the latest release section that look an aweful lot like the ones on that ultima.
im going home in an hour or so, could dig out the name then, cant remember it for the life of me now! :embarassed:
p.s: or what about some rsl's? they always look gorgeous in a 15"

Very nice, Just like what I had in my head! too bad I haven't a hope of affording them till later on in the year, but If you still have them I'd be interested  Those ones on the ultima are over £200 a pop
-
crossed wires a bit.... i dont actually own the wheels, just saw a company selling them in jan's PVW, sorry matey.
those rsl cults are gorgeous..... but if you like them i hope you dont mind wide wheels, the narrowest dubmeister do is a 7.5", and then they will set u back £155 each corner
better get saving

Just had a few minutes at photoshop to satisfy my curiosity, and here's what I came up with, someone may find it interesting: http://www.iol.ie/~locoblade/mystuff/cars/image50s.jpg (http://www.iol.ie/~locoblade/mystuff/cars/image50s.jpg) and: http://www.iol.ie/~locoblade/mystuff/cars/speedstars.jpg (http://www.iol.ie/~locoblade/mystuff/cars/speedstars.jpg)
I think I did a less useless job on the first one  6 spoke is defintely the way forward tho! Any other wheels come to mind after seeing these?
-
The BBS splits are gorgeous yes but when i've been to the shows recently ive noticed nearly all golfs / watercooled dubs now have BBS splits and are getting too common. They don't come cheap either! Something rare is deffo the way forward! Wish i hadn't sold my MiM's now  Have never seen another set
Go for something totally new, untried, original and shocking but classy
