wanting to upgrade dash speakers and been offered some rainbow speakers are they any better than alpine/kenwood etc as the bloke selling them says you get a much better sound cheers
-
rainbow are pretty good, but it depends on how much your spending
whats the specs on them?
-
Rainbow are generally very well regarded speakers, however what size are they, what is your car? If it's a MKII, you'd be better off with door speakers, as those in the dash won't be much better than tweeters, unless that's what you're after.

Rainbow are indeed pretty good. The only thing I would say is that they can tend to be a bit power-hungry, in as much that some of their speakers do take some significant welly to drive them - look at their nominal/RMS (not maximum) power rating, as this is the RMS figure you should really be 'feeding' them with.
If this is vastly different from what you can deliver (ie, if they need 80wrms, and you're looking at giving them maybe 20wrms from a 50w max head unit) look elsewhere, or purchase an amp to drive them - under powering a speaker is just as likely to kill it as over powering it.

Rainbow are top notch speakers, i didn't know they did a 4" speaker though for the dash.
