Title: Whats your power and spec!
Post by: Nitemare on 08 January 2007, 19:48
hi Guys

Ford owning newbie here!! just wondering what sort of power and 1/4 mile times you guys are putting out? I own a Fiesta RS Turbo with a 2.1 zetec.  This will put out around 280 - 300 bhp and just a bit more in torque.  No times as yet.

I know there are some VERY fast veedubs about as i went to the show at Santa Pod a few years back and was very immpressed with the quality of the cars, the power outputs and the times set on the day!!

Be good to talk to some of you - so dont be shy!

Well this is before the G60 transplant but still anyway.
Skoda Favorit, 150bhp, Nos, Fully tuned by me, custom rally exhaust, Bike carbs, Rally suspension, perspex windows, lightened bodyshell, 705kg and 15.02 at Santa Pod (Grip is the problem, wheelspin city )

thats a pretty nice spec!! interested in the perpex back window.  I think this year i will concentrating on reducing weight and maximising the power i have.  Are there any gearbox upgrades to aid your traction? do quaife do a kit for veedubs?

Does your fezza turbo handle that much power and not break !

I don't know about my Rallye yet as I've not had it long enough, so not RR'd it or 1/4 it yet. They are only 150 as standard but they are 4wd so that should help. Mines not standard so it's had BRM ported and polished head, Autotech G60 cam, autothority chip with 500rpm extra rev range, giro check valve, K&N filter, 68mm pulley and custom SS exhaust. Hoping to see what happens at the next Santa Pod show. I got 17.2 out of my mk1 cab so I'm hoping to do better than that !

The Rallye Kings are here!

This will give Fezza Turbo a rough idea. I do expect a lot of stick will be given to him for owning a FORD but I won't be one of them. Fix Or Repair Daily so I understand, anyway......................

This is from a rolling road day -

Martz - that RR day seems like a lifetime ago now. I actually forgot about Joe's gay run to try and get in the picture

Nitemare - I bet that Fiesta flys with a 2.1 zetec lump in there. I had a standard Fiesta Turbo running pretty much max boost on the T2  and that used to torque steer all over the place   Didn't last long like that though, haven't gone down the turbo route since....

Its got steel rods and forged pistons and a reground crank, so the engine is over-engineered for reliability.  The gearbox is a prob though - so im gonna buy one from CTS (they re-engineer boxes using uprated parts and a quaife atb diff.  This will help put power down and aids carrying more power through the corners.

Lol - i expected a few digs about the Ford and to be honest there is some truth fix or repair daily!! but you gotta admit, some tasty beasts have left uncle henrys stable over the years!!

so whom has the fastest beast!

There are quite a few on here that like the blue oval, but only the old school versions, so anything post 1990 is a no no.

As for whom has the fastest beast ! Not sure really as we've not all done RR's and/or 1/4 mile runs, but from all the regulars it's probably toph's Rallye at the RR day as it pushed out 204.5 or something like that. There maybe someone with more but I can't think at the mo, but if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will shout out.

This RR day was from a few years ago at AMD.

http://www.golfgti.co.uk/rrday_may04.htm

I thought there waqs going to be one organised last November. I think one is due. Would'nt mind seeing what mine pushing out now. Last figures were with a fecked water pump and a small air leak. Anyway we will see.

As you can see we arn't that bothered or organised about RR or 1/4 miles times. Personally I prefer B roads and Track Days.

I don't know about my Rallye yet as I've not had it long enough, so not RR'd it or 1/4 it yet. They are only 150 as standard

minus 10 housepoints for the big scary northerner!

I wish too!

Rallyes have same power output as a G60 slim...although they have a slightly smaller cc to keep them in the right class when they were used in competition. 1763cc instead of 1781cc. But that's all been covered somewhere on here before....

260bhp takes some serious cash to get to with them engines!
Title: Re: Whats your power and spec!
Post by: topher on 12 January 2007, 16:05
you can get 300bhp quite easily if you dont mind rebuilding the engine/charger after every stage, like the VWMS ones

Post by: SLIM-DUB on 12 January 2007, 16:33
im stunned,i really thought that they wouldve put more power into a rallye, and g60 come to think of it and yet the mk3 vr6 is more?!?!  so out of interest what is standard bhp on a mk2 valver?
Title: Re: Whats your power and spec!
Post by: gibby on 12 January 2007, 16:48
Standard mk2 valver is 139bhp.

what sort of torque figures are you guys pushing? i take it turbocharging isnt really a vw thing? some impressive stuff  I do like the odd trackday - although the last few years have been limited due to work on the car and lack of interest for a while!!
Title: Re: Whats your power and spec!
Post by: gibby on 18 January 2007, 13:32
I didn't have my Rallye at the last RR so don't know. As for turbocharging, yes it is a VW thing as the mk4 has a 20v turbo and these are used quite frequently in engine swaps into other mks.

You guys are neglecting the dirty smokers my TDI chucks out 150BHP standard on a 2.0lt TDI. But custom ECU gives about 200BHP on the front wheels.
Anyone put a G60 on a diesel LOL?
Gibby let me know when your rolling road I want to compare as I haven't RR mine either yet.
