Hi im quite new to car modifying and just wondering what size alloy wheels and tires are best ?
Im looking for wheels that will help to improve handling, any links to shops etc would be of great help
thanks

15 inch are regarded as being the best in terms of handing and quite possibly looks too for a mark 2.
width wise, any larger than 7 inch wil require arch work to accomodate them/
Tyre wise, 195 50 15's pirellis is what I have on my BBS RA's at the moment and 195 45 15 toyo proxes on my G60 steels.
-
I have toyo proxes on my bbs ra's and must say there a good tyre 195/50/r15's the only problem is they dont last very long
-
toyo proxes t1rs last a bit longer than the t1s, and apparently have more grip too :)
-
thanks for your help i think 15 inch bbs will be my choice after looking on some websites.
trying to keep tht golf classy look
-
P.s. if anyone has any useful links please post as i want to get the right look

According to this - http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html the best size for a 15 inch rim is 195/50 R15 and the best tryes I've ever used are Goodyear Eagle F1's
-
ok adam let me know how it goes, and im deffinetly going for 195/50/15 size wise
possibly toyo or f'1's not quite decided yet

Those wheels were lovely, shame they arne't a fit.
I've got 195/50/15s on my car with Yoko A539 I think thats the right numbers!
I wasn't too sure about them at first, but as they were all the place had in and my tyres were barely legal I didn't have much choice.
But what can I say, I've so far found them to be excellent!
And they weren't expensive at all
