Title: 2.0 16v ABF fault code
Post by: raylee25 on 06 January 2007, 20:53
Just bought a VAG COM lead on E-Bay and installed it on my laptop, went out to the car to see if it would work. I only bought it because I was getting a misfire around 2000rpm. After changing the ECU relay, fuel pump relay, plugs, dizzy cap, arm, leads, coil. still no change.
So this is a copy of the fault code the vag com came back with:-

1 Fault code found
00513-Engine speed sensor (G28)
           27-10- Implausible Signal - Intermittent

What does this actually mean? and wheres the sensor located? Is it easy to change? and cost?
If this solves the misfire problem, it will be the best £25 I've spent

Thanks

Hi Raylee..

I had the same problem last year on my mk3 16v, it'll gradually get worse until the car is undrivable.

The part is around £80+VAT I think, maybe more depending on source.
The sensor is located at the front of the engine block, around the oil filter housing, might be a tough job to do because the ngine mount is in the way.
