i have just got my first golf and tbh i dont know much about them
i'm after some 16" rims and i want to lower my car(mk3 1.8 driver)
so my questions are what et and width will best fit my golf and how much can i lower it on 16's and i dont want to do any arch work

Hi, there is shed loads about this in MK3 section - you can go as high as 17" x 7" alloys on a Mk3 with 215/40/17 tyres and people have dropped between 35-60mm without seeing any scrubbing.
For 16" guess it will be around the same ball park.
