Title: I signal left and the right indicator goes........
Post by: robster23 on 06 January 2007, 20:25
Hey Guys,

Just got my toy back (Mk3 94 8v Gti) and running well but now have a confusing problem with the rear lights!

On my way home my other half points out that I seem to be indicating one way and going the other. ( Although this would seem to be a good ploy to shake her off and go for a drive it wasn't on this occasion! ). Also the lights seem to be quite dim when pressing the brake etc. Also when the headlights are on the indicator light on the dash for the rear fog comes on when the brakes are pressed.

I suspect it is the h/light switch but has anyone else had the problem and discovered something else to be the problem????

All help received great fully!

Yo. I've just fixed this on my mk3 - took a bit of finding, but if you go into the boot, remove the black panel on the back of the boot, remove the boot carpet (may have to lift up the back seats for this) and there's an earth for the right hand cluster - remove the nut and clean the ground up and job done

Fixed! Thanks to the hint from above and checking all the light fittings in the rear cluster on the nearside. Now all cleaned and all is happy. No more light on the dash switch and all the lights work independently and are nice and bright. About an hour to get all the niggles out. Worth doing. Now on to the shocks!
