Title: Sharing pictures, too!
Post by: Phantom on 06 January 2007, 20:14
Suppose I should share! :D Pictures taken today about one hour after I picked it up.

First impressions are that this is an excellent car. A fantastic car in fact! I thought it would not be as 'special' after the RX-8, but it's such a different kind of car, it's special in it's own right. I real 'smile-maker'.

The DSG is turning me into a lazy driver already :) The kick in sport mode is excellent. A good sign of things to come. :D

Thank you! Just been out for another drive and it's a lot faster than I first thought. Handling is fantastic as well. Really feels dialled in to the road.

I like the black. I know they are a pain to keep clean, but I think that looks so mean on the grey alloys... ;)

Looking good  mind and take care of that new paintwork, i bought my gti and R32 second hand and found lots of swirling on the paint (black will mark easily) Apparently there is a correct method of washing etc. I'm having mine proffessionally detailed to remove the swirls (light scratches) Black looks awesome and i heard it was the fastest colour

Looks really cool mate, but I hear that RED is the fastest colour

Vagabond, where you getting your car professionally cleaned?

ha ha.  aye, red is pretty quick (when clean).  I'm getting mine done by a guy in dundee who was recommended. My paint has lots of fine scratches, very noticeable under sunlight or streetlighting. The guy says a typical detail will take about 8 hours, depending on damage. The end result is seemingly amazing.....at a cost of £200 ish. I'll post the pics when he's finished.

http://www.jac-in-a-box.com/ (http://www.jac-in-a-box.com/) comes highly recommended on the TT forum.... I'm thinking of getting mine done by him just after I pick it up

By the sound of it, it could well be the same guy you are using, Vagabond

Wise move mate, he also does a winter prep and gives you sound advice on how to wash your car 'properly' and keep it looking at it's best. I love to do all the waxing and stuff and i think i do a good job but these guys are pro's. I think it's worth the money. Your paint will be so clean it will look 'wet' There's a lot more to just washing & waxing your car, apparently   :nerd:

Had a look on that jac in a box site.  The finish on the black golf gti 25th anni ed in the gallery is immense.

I seem to be struggling to get a comfy seating position. :(

My back just does not seem 'right'. I also noticed that the lumbar wheel seems to make barely any difference to the seat, even after spinning it for 700 turns until lock.

I need to sit and have a bloody good fiddle with all the knobs to get things sorted.

Have you tried moving the seat up/down using the handle at the side?

Also, have you tried moving the electric lumbar support in/out/up down the seat using the circle with the four indentations?

Finally, maybe try moving the steering wheel to get a more comfy driving position
