Hello All
I have a Golf Gti P reg 1997 8 valve, the problem I have is i can't put petrol in the car due to a fuse blowing two days ago, this fuse blew the cig lighter, inside lights and stopped my central locking from working.
I bought a pack of fuses today and replace all the blown fuse that being two in all, the thing is the central door locking still don't work and the petrol flap I can't open, to make matters worse I don't have enough petrol to get the car to a garage to have it looked at.
The only fuse box I could find was under the drivers side dash, there are no relays so I then checked in the engine bay and found no fuse box or relays, is there another fuse box on these cars? or a way to open the petrol flap in case the motor failed for the lock.
Last of all I don't use the key fob this is all done by key in door, only had the car a few weeks and no batts or cover on the key, but the central locking was working fine by key in door.

Hello mate, the relays are above the fuses under the drivers side dash.

Hi
I had to call out the AA and get them to open the petrol flap which was easy to do, just use a screw driver and insert it through the petrol flap and push in the central locking pin.
He told me it wont be a relay and that i should try find out if there is another fuse box as the fuse box under drivers dash none of them were for central locking and all working.
Thxs for the reply.

Hmmm. I was of the understanding that many central locking systems of golfs of that age were dealer fit and as such would the fuse be in the main fuse box? In the past I have often found that immobilisers / alarms often had their own fuse "inline". Away from the fuse boxes on the power cable. Perhaps it is worth tracking back from the battery and see if you can spot a power cable coming off it?
Just wondering out loud.
