Title: G60 arches.
Post by: t111bul on 05 January 2007, 19:39
I've got an F reg golf GTI 16v and i want to fit G60 arches to it. Is it possible to fit G60 arches on a pre 90 spec GTI?

no they use normal gti skirts

personally i dont like g60 arches unless you have wide wheels that fit them. otherwise it looks datft imo

Like Neaty said it will look daft without the side skirts, and will look even dafter if you've got the pre 90' side strips as they are 70mm and the 90' spec is 55mm (I think). Even if I'm wrong on the sizes, it will still look daft as the front arch has the side strip built into it.

But If you do decide to fit the G60's, let me know as I've got a brand spanking set in my garage for sale!!

Well I'm doing a VR6 conversion and I'm using the wide track running gear so the wheels should be out far enough to fill the arches.

There you go then, you'll probably need them. But again, if you've got the fat side strips and no side skirts it will look funny. Have you thought of getting the arches pulled to accomodate the rims?

Yeah, piece of wee wee, Ebay tastic my friend for the strips, unless anyone on here is breaking one!

PM on it's way!

Got any pictures of ya car? and what wheels and size you gonna be running

as Gambit said, they will look silly if your wheels don't fill them. Also if you dont get the car to sit at the right height you can get a real tractor effect going on.

I think i got it nearly right...

I guess you could always use wheel spacers to push your wheels out a bit if they are not wide enough. Not sure if it would affect the lifespan of your wheel bearings.

As I'm using Mk3 sub frames which are an inch wider each side will that not help ? I'm using vr6 BBS 15inch wheels. I don't have any pictures as the cars in bits at the moment with no sub frame fitted.
