Title: VW CD changer installation???
Post by: kevkay78 on 04 January 2007, 23:02
I have recently bought a used VW dash-mounted 6 CD changer for my '02 Golf. I have tried connecting it to the (beta) head unit which seemed straight-forward enough, and even had it working perfectly (for all of 2 minutes...) until it cut it out and i was'nt able to get it working again. I have since took it to a profesional "car audio installer", but he tells me that the changer is incompatible with the head-unit?
I was going to try swapping my beta head unit for a gamma one (about £50 used on ebay), and hope for the best.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

never heared of a dash mounted cd changer! nice, the only advice i can give is dont go back to the 'professional' audio guy again. i have no clue about vw audio upgrade parts but from my general knowledge ANY manufacturer audio upgrade is designed to cause problems, they want it to be awkward to screw any money out of you, they make their dollar off cars, actually more often on parts and servicing wheras aftermarket e.g sony, alpine... ect want it to be easy to keep your custom, spread the word and allow anyone to use their kit. generally anyway.

Thats the only way you'll solve it, as the Beta is incompitable.
