Hi,
Was looking online trying to find what the 0-60 was for a mk4 1.6 16v was and found that its 10.5 anybody beaten that?
I would imagine you can do quicker than that, its just what the site says..

Factory figures probably can be beaten, but at less than 100bhp per tonne I doubt it would be much quicker. Probably get below 10 secs but not much further I reckon. :undecided:
-
oops!
-
Would be nice to try it out one day!
what do you recon 8-9 secs?
-
Why would factory figures be that far out? If the time you are guessing at was true, are all other models as far out? So the mk4 r32 must really be about 5 seconds and that there Bugatti is really 0.8753 seconds to 60?

-
I honestly dont know, im just guessing but i see what your saying, my mate recconed he got 0-60 in 7 seconds in his civic sport..which is a 1.6 16v zetec n the factory time is like 10.4 seconds i think??
-
"Your mate reckoned" is probably the key statement there. It's hard to time it by counting in your head or looking at a stopwatch etc. Probably the most accurate way of timing yourself would be with GPS. The factory will have real timing equipment. 3 seconds off a factory stat on a fairly low 0-60 is a bridge too far I reckon. I think fifth gear did this test with a budget car, the factory 0-60 was something like 23 seconds and the guy did it in 18, so yes factory figures may not be totally accurate, but there's also a big difference between a car that can do 0-60 in 23 seconds and one that can do it in 9 seconds.
I doubt a mk4 1.6 16v is quicker than my cab and I reckon that would do 0-60 in around 9.5 - 10 secs.
-
IMO looking at 0-60 times is pointless unless your on the strip. In the real world you are best off looking at 50-70mph etc as this gives a better idea to the performance of a car.
-
get ya self the europes best drag strip....
www.santpod.co.uk
sort it it there... tbh honest all this on line stuff is b0ll0cks.... you wanna tussle your lesser powered vw with the big boys... do it here.. timed.. proper the lot..
nuff said...

Yeah i see what everyone is saying!
My car isnt on the road yet, anyone with the same one ( mk4 1.6 16v) here that can tell me what its like? like someone said the 5-70mph section would be better timing (sorry forgot your name lol) whats that like? etc etc would just like to know alittle about them.
Thanks for your response so far, tis good to see the forum is quite lively!

i had the mk4 gti... 1.8 20v non turbo.. 125bhp and that struggled like mad to get into 10 seconds let alone anything else mate... so not wanting to p1ss on your bonfire and stuff....

My mate had a 1.6se mk4 and to say it was just a 1.6 it wasnt bad and as you say its not bad at all for a first car. Welcome to vw ownership mate......
-
 yepp!! and thanks, im going to be on here all the time no doubt! i started working on it today, its was written off, why i dont know.. theres nothing to bad on there, it looks like its been spun. I couldnt get boot open at first but so far ive taken off front and rear bumpers, rad, pastics in front wheels arch, front wing, front panel, and rear. all the lights! My dad got hold of a black vr6 boot for me with the cool looking spoiler on it for cheap of a mate. So starting to look good already!!
Something i did notice was that its got a twin exhaust! im suprised they didnt have a cut out bit on rear bumper to show it like the vr6!!
-
So you actualy have a mk 3 then mate....
