Think I'm due some new plugs, the last lot are all black with oil and carbon caused by cr@p/kn@ckered stem seals...
they are currently Bosch supers, is it worth getting the super 4s? Or are there any others I should consider?
Any one remember the price of supers from VW?
cheers

Spark plug is a spark plug at the end of the day. The super 4s just means that they last longer as the electrode deteriorates then the spark will jump to the next closest one.
Whichever ones make you happy.
-
i've heard that before, single electrode ones works as well as others
I'll get the std ones from vw!
cheers
-
i all aways get super 4's
i dont think you can beet them. never had a problem
what ever you do though never use splitfire's they cause a world of problems.
yes super 4's is deffo the way to go
-
i use super 4's as well and for less than 15 a set its worth it
they do improve throttle response
-
problem with single probe is because of the design the gapping tends to out of spec due to the boxes being bashed about in transit. My maye has had loads of problems with this, so I'd always go with tripple probe. Std 16v plugs will be tripple probe anyway though ;)

over £20 a set though from VW, will ahve to order from vwspares.co.uk!!!
Would sh|tty plugs cause this juddering I seem to have at 2k revs? - only does it if i hold it at a steady 2k (out of gear), or coasting with my foot just on the gas to maintain speed (any speed, any gear) at 2k revs?
will change them anyway for the sake of a tenner, even though thye have only done 10k miles!!
-
Yeah thats where I get all my service bits from :)
Not sure on the juddering though, but as you say worth a go.
-
it feels like a misfire, so I'll mabe try a cap and arm while I'm at it, last ones were just cheapies from local factors!
-

That's the funniest thing i have read all week.

flat spot or violent judder?
flat spot would be fuelling, judder electrical.
-
are you sure it aint just damp in the dizzy?? common problem around this time of year
set of plugs wont go a miss either though.

Maybe my old plugs were really bad :embarassed:
my car accellerates alot better after changing them

its like you've hit a pot hole when you're driving, like someone is under the bonnet kicking the engine????
When stationary it feels like the revs are jumping a few revs, it feels un settled? Hard to explain!!
acelerating is fine, athough it feels a little slugginsh, until 5k revs, the it flys but you hit the red line!
any ideas?
