Title: HELP scrap the planned vehicle tracking & road pricing policy
Post by: The Doc on 03 January 2007, 13:04
For all you drivers out there...

http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax/

Sign and pass it on. It only takes a minute.

The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it. The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver. A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month.

On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit you can expect a NIP with your monthly bill.

If you care about our freedoms and stopping the constant bashing of the car driver, please sign the petition on No 10's new website.

I filled it in but havent had the email confirmation back yet! Perhaps they have been swamped.

Have said this before though - the system in the roads is in place, only on motorways and major trunk roads. But that investment has been going on for years. I cant see them dropping the scheme!

We have a crap Public Transport system where train prices have just gone through the roof again, thus forcing many people back into their cars, and they're talking about implementing this at the same time.
Total madness......
If you ask me the problem lies in the fact that only total saddos end up as MP's, as most of us get 'normal jobs'  so they have no idea what real life is like, and what really goes on.

in rural area's like lincolnshire where you have to travel 20miles to and from work, the un-employment rate will rise drastically as there are not enuff jobs that pay good enuff wages to pay that sort of fee! shocking especially as i cant even see what my road tax is actually spent on,the roads round here are awful for any car not just of the lowered variety! I WILL BE SIGNING SHORTLY!

Just a thought on this subject - Sat Navs work on the same principle as the devices proposed for this purpose in car!

Does this mean that all you sheep that have bought Sat Navs will get hammered straight away?

No - Sat nav does not have this capability - the system will be a stand alone item.
