Title: Replacing / refurbing MK2 seats
Post by: spiderman247 on 02 January 2007, 15:36
My MK2 3 door seats have had it. The drivers seat has seen 188k now and isn't very comfortable any more. Do I need new seats or can they be re-furbed? Does anyone know where I can get a quote? I'd quite like some leather ones

If I have to get new seats what other car seats fit? The Mk3 and 4 sound likely candidate donors. Does anyone have any experience with this? What's the best option? Are there conversion kit available or do you always have to make a one yourself?

I've seen a few Mk2 seats for sale but they are mostly worn and £400 so I'm not that keen. I don't know if this is expensive or not but it sounds it to me. Do I need a bigger budget?

Any guidance on how best to approach this would be appreciated. Cheers. S  :undecided:

Standard Gti seats in pretty good condition can be had for below 40 quid, have a look on ebay or in the for sale section here. (where i have a set for sale, incidently  )
but 400 quid sounds about normal for leather seats.

I do believe you can buy the foam for these seat's.....I think vw motoring did a piece on this a while ago and it's the subframe's from mk3 & 4's that will cause most fun as these are welded to the seat's.
