Title: Water leakage into my fuse box on MK2 GTI 16V. driver side.

Happy new year to the gang,

I have a slight issue with my car hope you guys can help as someone might have had the same problem.

I am getting constant water leak on driver side of my MK2 GTi 16V, water is getting to the relays on my fusebox under the steering, i have already changed 3 indicator relays, please help where this water might be getting in from? How could i test the fault? i have already checked the under bonnet drainage holes. anything else i could check. I would appreciate whoever is able to help

Try a search mate, but also chk the bonnet cable grommet as this can be common and the seal on the window screen this can leak and run down the back of the dash and drip over the fuse box but as i said try the search there's loads about water leaks.

So darren wot was the cure for your problem as i see you had the same problem. Apart from using the asda bag around the fuse box. :wink: i think my problem might be due to windscreen rubber as i have had it replaced recently.
he might be able to fix that for me. :smiley:

If you have a sunroof check the drains that go down the pillers of the car.I say this because mine snapped of on an f reg i had. :smiley:

My last Golf leaked on both sides in the front and it turned out to be the windscreen rubber, got it sealed up by a windscreen fitter, job done no more leaks  :grin:

Amo mine was the window screen seal   :grin:

Seeing as yo have just had yours replaced thats a good place to start me thinks.

mine too now! just drove home with the green indicator LED constantly on, and no indicators or hazards flashing.

went to garage on way home and found water around the hazard flasher. I assume after reading above and Matey Matey it sounds as if its coming in around the bonnet release cable grommet.

Will seal this up at weekend in the daylight. In the mean time can I squirt WD40 over fusebox and the relays to drive the water out??

already blew most of it with an air line so we are working agin for now!
